Release notes for version 6.1.0 of Bitcoin and Altcoin Wallets.

About this release

Version 6.1.0 of Bitcoin and Altcoin Wallets adds some user-requested features and fixes minor issues of the last major release.

What’s new?

Withdrawal approvals

Most importantly, you can now enable withdrawal approvals by an admin.

To enable this, go to SettingsBitcoin and Altcoin WalletsCron tasksAdmin must approve withdrawals. Check the box and hit Save changes.

When this is enabled, all pending withdrawals must be approved. To approve pending withdrawals:

  1. Go to the “Transactions” screen
  2. Optionally filter by “Pending” and “Withdrawals”.
  3. Check the box in front of some pending withdrawals. Other withdrawals will not be affected.
  4. From the Bulk actions dropdown, select Approve and hit Apply. The approved pending withdrawals will be executed on a subsequent cron run.

VS amount decimals

Amounts in the frontend are also shown below as equivalent amounts in “VS Currencies”. You can now choose how many decimals to show for these amounts.

Go to: SettingsBitcoin and Altcoin WalletsFrontend UI settingsFrontend VS amount decimals. Set the number of decimals and hit Save changes.

Pending withdrawal checks

Pending withdrawals become eligible for execution when they pass some checks. Now the results of these checks are shown as a metabox when you edit a pending withdrawal. These checks are documented here.

One of the checks looks to see if the user has exceeded the daily withdrawal limits, as specified in the Currency settings. These daily counters are now shown in the user’s profile screen.

Search transactions by TXID

If you have a hex string corresponding to a blockchain TXID, you can now use it to search for a transaction. Just go to the Transactions admin screen, and paste the TXID in the search box.

  • Add: New option “Admin must approve withdrawals”. When on, pending withdrawals must be approved by an admin in the Transactions list screen using the “Approve” batch action.
  • Add: The frontend “VS amounts”, i.e. the equivalent amounts expressed in “VS currencies”, are now shown with a number of decimals that is configurable by the admin.
  • Add: Admin can now search transactions by TXID.

  • Fix: When filtering posts, all enabled filters are now shown in bold and with ARIA accessibility attributes.
  • Add: For pending withdrawals, admin can view the results of withdrawal pre-checks.
  • Fix: Daily withdrawal counters for currencies are now correctly enforced at all times.
  • Add: Daily withdrawal counters are now visible in the profile screen of each user.
  • Add: For pending withdrawals, developer can add withdrawal pre-checks with action wallets_withdrawal_pre_check and with filter wallets_withdrawals_pre_check.
  • Fix: When showing [wallets_account_value] shortcode without any enabled “VS currencies”, the account value is now shown as ‘?’ and not ‘Undefined ?’.
  • Fix: Documentation updated to reflect changes in premium plugin payment method and added mention to new Paywall extension.
  • Fix: Improved logging for wallet adapters cron task.
  • Fix: Added guard clause in currency icons cron task to protect against missing returned data from remote service.

  • Migration: Many of you have already performed data migration successfully. It looks like there are no unexpected issues. If you spot an issue while migrating, please post on the support forum or contact me.
  • Videos: The YouTube videos are being released one per Saturday. Tomorrow’s video (2023-03-11) is about fiat currencies and bank transfers. The last video is a hands-on tutorial on frontend customization, including editing HTML templates, and will be released on 2023-03-18. If you haven’t already, you can go watch them.
  • Lightning: I have been riding the lightning lately, with emphasis on learning lnd and the lightning-terminal. I am cautiously optimistic that I will release something good, soonish.
